Attack on scribe unfortunate: HBCC

Thoubal, October 24 2021: While expressing serious concern over the election related violence taking place in the past few days at different areas under Heirok assembly constituency, Heirok Block Congress Committee (HBCC) has said that the attack on journalist Elangbam Rameshwor amidst the violence at his own residence was very unfortunate.
HBCC president Thokchom Ranjan told media persons on Sunday that around eight flags of Congress party erected at different parts of Heirok AC were either removed or damaged while poultry and domesticated animals were taken away during election related violence occurred in the past few days till Sunday morning.
Amidst the violence, Thoubal district correspondent of Naharolgi Thoudang Rameshwor was also beaten up at his own residence at Heirok bazar Maning.
According to Thokchom Ranjan, there had been several incidents of attacks on Congress workers and their residences since the past few days and amidst the violence some local dailies reported on Sunday that the perpetrators dressed in black colour cloths ran inside the residence of ex-minister K Okendro, which indeed was not true and very unfortunate as all the victims were Congress workers and their families.
While maintaining that HBCC gives its highest respect to media, Ranjan said that the committee is not related with attack on media persons and strongly condemned the incident.
He then appealed to people of the constituency to remain in peace so that everyone enjoys the rights guaranteed by the Constitution.
He also disclosed names of Congress workers and their family members attacked by unidentified black dressed men in the past few days.
