After 20 month gap, Tamil Nadu Teachers Recruitment Board to recruit polytechnic lecturers

There are 1,060 vacancies to be filled as the previous recruitment exam held on September 16, 2017, was cancelled following a major scam. As many as 1.38 lakh candidates are appearing for the exam across 129 centres.
Some candidates have rued this move and complained that the centres are located at long distances because of which they will be forced to shell out up to 2,000 on travel, food and accommodation.
A Tenkasi-based aspirant, who was allotted Chengalpet, said, "I will have to spend at least 4,000 on travel, food and accommodation. Long-distance travel is likely to affect my performance. I could have appeared for the exam from Madurai without any issues," a Tenkasi-based aspirant said
Another candidate from Trichy said he was allotted an exam centre in Nagercoil. "It would have been easier for us if the board had allotted an exam centre within a 100km radius," he said.
According to a board official, the random allotment of centres was introduced last February during the recruitment test for block educational officers (BEO). "The board also plans to conduct a third-party audit of the entire recruitment process to avoid malpractices," the official said.
The postgraduate teachers' recruitment exam, which was scheduled from November 13 to 15, is likely to be postponed by a month following the age relaxation.
