Imphal, October 23 2021: In an election related incident, NFSA agent of polling station number 3/7 Phaknung Sangomsang of Khurai assembly constituency allegedly threatened some beneficiaries of the locality that their NFSA benefits would be annulled for organising meeting of National People's Party (NPP) Manipur state unit youth president Laitonjam Jayananda, who would be contesting the 12th Manipur Legislative assembly election from Khurai AC.
Addressing a press meet in this regard held at Phaknung Sangomshang, one Lairenlakpam ongbi Sonia said that an election related meeting was organised by the election committee of NPP intending candidate Jayananda, which was formed by his supporters from the locality, on October 21.Around 6 pm the same day, local NFSA agent Mayengbam ongbi Ibemcha called her on mobile phone and told her that her name along with those of Mayengbam Ibe, Lukram Purnima, Khoisnam Kamala and Khoisnam Abecha will be deleted from the NFSA beneficiary list for playing major role in organising the election meeting.
Expressing discontentment over the threat, Sonia said that India is a democratic country where anybody can choose the candidate they want and it is unfortunate for the NFSA agent to threaten deletion of their names from the beneficiary list.
