Farmers facing dark due to MVA, says Bagde

Aurangabad, Oct 23 (UNI) Former Maharashtra state assembly speaker and BJP's Phulambri MLA Haribhau Bagade on Saturday alleged that ,due to the Thackeray government's hatred of farmers, darkness has spread in the homes of thousands of farming families in the state in Diwali festival.
Addressing a press here at BJP office Mr Bagade demanded that the Thackeray government, which has not made a single announcement in action, should publicly answer our questions, otherwise it should apologize for cheating the farmers.
According to preliminary data, more than 55 lakh hectares of crops in the state have been damaged due to the heavy rains.
In fact, over 100 Lakh hectares of land have been completely destroyed, and floods have rendered farmland barren. With the end of land fertility, no crop is sustainable for the next ten years, and the Thackeray government is mocking the farmers by erasing the fraudulent aid of Rs 10,000 per hectare.
Farmers in the state are frustrated and the announced aid has not yet reached led to number of suicides is on the rise.
Due to this grief, Diwali of thousands of farming families will go into darkness, but Matoshri, Varsha and Mantralaya will be lit up,he said.
He said that if the Thackeray government is even a little ashamed, then the Chief Minister should declare this year's Diwali as the Diwali of the farmers' grief and not to light the Matoshri and Varsha.
By the end of last month, farmers had filed 28 lakh crop insurance advance notices. It now contains a few lakh more suggestions. He also questioned whether the government was not ashamed of the fact that out of the Rs 973 crore given to insurance companies by the Chief Minister, who had given a hollow assurance that the farmers would not be left to fend for themselves.
While the soybean crop was lost due to heavy rains, the farmers were misled by the lure of huge yields of this crop.
MLA Haribhau Bagade alleged that the Thackeray government was silent after the farmers lost their crops due to adulterated fertilizers, inferior seeds and fraud.
The price of a quintal, which used to be Rs 11,000 in September, has now come down to Rs 4,000 to Rs 5,000. Due to farmers stopping bringing goods to the market, the income has also cooled down and Diwali is going to be dark due to lack of money in the hands of farmers.
Mr Bagade also demanded that additional assistance of Rs. 40,000 per hectare should be announced for land cultivation.
He said that since the income of the farmers affected by the heavy rains has gone down, the electricity bill should be waived for the entire rainy season,he added.
State Executive Member Eknathrao Jadhav, District Organization General Secretary Laxmanrao Aute, MLA Prashant Bomb, Dr. Ram Budhwant and other office bearers were present on this occasion.
