Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was booed by Manchester United fans as his side collapsed to trail rivals Liverpool 4-0 at half-time for the first time in Premier League history.
Naby Keita and Diogo Jota gave Liverpool a two-goal lead after 13 minutes, before a Mohamed Salah double saw United down by four goals at the break for the first time in the competition.
Solskjaer walked from the dugout to the tunnel at the corner of Old Trafford with boos ringing out and supporters angrily gesturing at the under-pressure Norwegian.
Fans were even seen leaving the stadium at half-time as Liverpool blasted their way to an unassailable lead.
Micky Gray was as shocked as anyone by United’s first-half capitulation telling talkSPORT: “That is as bad as I’ve ever seen Manchester United play.”
Earlier in the day reports emerged that United’s hierarchy were turning away agents offering to help find a replacement for Solskjaer, with the likes of Antonio Conte and Zinedine Zidane still out of work.
talkSPORT’s Sarah Collins was outside Old Trafford as fans began leaving, with one group of supporters telling her this was the first time they’d ever left a game early.
“No this is the first time ever,” one of the group said “First time ever we’ve ever walked out of a football game with Man United, they’re not even trying.
“It’s shocking football, shocking to watch, it’s embarrassing.
“I think the manager’s lost the plot and he’s lost the players, lost the dressing room.”
Another of the group chipped in on the increasingly under-pressure head coach, saying that he’s had enough of Solskjaer in the dugout.
“This is embarrassing, the games against Aston Villa, Everton, Villarreal there’s been no football whatsoever,” he said. “Ole’s completely lost the plot and the team are not playing for him now.
“Our biggest game of the season and they’re not even trying, they’re not running, they’re not chasing their man down.
“Goal goes in and they throw their arms in the air and do the exact same thing 10 minutes later.
