Pune/Ahmednagar, 24th October 2021: A 21-year-old youth has been detained by the Military Intelligence (MI) of Army’s Southern Command for allegedly moving around suspiciously in an Army uniform near Ahmednagar Fort Gate today.

According to officials, the accused youth has been identified as Mahesh Bharat Jagtap, a resident of Aherchal in Loni Khurd of Rahata taluka of Ahmednagar district.
Jagtap was riding a motorcycle when he was caught. A fake identity card showing himself as an Indian Army Major rank officer has been recovered from his possession besides fake appointment letter of Intelligence Bureau (IB). A forged salary slip of IB has been seized as well as three ATM cards.
His Facebook profile photo is in Army uniform stating he works with the Indian Army (adgpi).
An officer said that the fake Army identity card shows that he joined the Mechanised Infantry Regimental Centre (MIRC), Ahmednagar on October 22, 2021. The appointment letter of 2019 states that he has been selected as a ‘soldier’ based on his special weapon handling skills. Then another letter of 2020 states that he has been selected as ‘special officer in Intelliegence Burrow’ and that his initial training will be at MIRC Ahmednagar and remaining training at New Delhi and in Uttarakhand.
“Joint interrogation is going on to find out the motive behind his acts”, the officer informed.
