Hafthor Bjornsson continued his preparations for his heavyweight boxing match with Eddie Hall by sparring with undisputed lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez.
Yet ‘The Mountain’ from Game of Thrones may well have inadvertently provided his rival with the perfect tactic – targeting his sizeable body.
This heavyweight exhibition clash – dubbed the ‘Heaviest Fight Ever’ – was scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 18 at the Vystar Veteran’s Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida.
A new date has not been confirmed as of yet but it is expected to take place in March 2022 once Hall has fully recovered from a detached bicep.
Bjornsson is continuing his own preparations by taking on Lopez, 24, at the body shot challenge made famous by boxer Ryan Garcia and UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou.
The Honduran, who last fought in 2020 when he defeated Vasyl Lomachenko, packs a serious punch and landed to devastating effect on his 6ft 9ins opponent.
Once he had fully recovered ‘Thor’ then unleashed a left hook of his own which definitely caused a reaction from the Honduran as he took a moment to regain his composure.
Lopez will return to action in November when he defends his world titles against IBF mandatory challenger George Kamosos Jr in New York City.
Thankfully for ‘The Takeover’, his opponent is in actual fact a lightweight and not a monster like ‘Thor’.
