THANE: A history-sheeter was arrested for the alleged murder of another history-sheeter in the Lokmanya Nagar area on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday.
A history-sheeter has been arrested for allegedly murdering his friend in Navi Mumbai in Thane district, a railway police official said.
The deceased has been identified as Rahul Solanki (28), while the accused has been identified as Subjit Bagh (27), said police.
Police said that the accused and the deceased are history-sheeters and have several cases of property offences as well as body offences in the past.
They had a sort of cold war amongst themselves, Nikam added.
Solanki and Bagh were enjoying drinks at the forestry at Pada No 4 on Saturday night.
After getting drunk, both of them picked a fight with each other. The fight got ugly and Bagh, in a fit of rage, attacked Solanki with a knife. Solanki bled to death at the spot.
Police took the victim to a nearby hospital where the doctors declared him dead. The body has been sent to a government hospital for postmortem, the police said.
A case has been registered with the Vartak Nagar police station under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code.
