It's time, it's finally that time. It's blue vs green, it's the mother of all clashes, it's India vs Pakistan, after more than two years and in T20Is after four years. India have been dominant in the warm-up games, beating two of the top sides in England and Australia in the ongoing ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2021 and start as the favourites.
However, this Pakistan outfit can't be discounted purely for one reason that their's T20 form in the recent past has been exceptional owing to their batters' good form, which has been their Achilles heel in the past and with the all-round team they have, it could be the closest the two sides have been if matched on paper.
Skipper Virat Kohli mentioned that clarity of thought is very important in T20Is as one ball can change the game, while Pakistan captain Babar Azam hoped that the form of the batters can help their side move further in the tournament.
Head-to-head: 8 games, IND - 7, PAK - 1
India and Pakistan have faced each other eight times in the T20Is since 2007, out of which five have been in the T20 World Cups and the men in blue have dominated their neighbours winning seven games, while the men in green have won just one. In the T20 World Cups, India have won all five of them.
The last time these two sides met was in March 2016 in the T20 World Cup and India won the game comprehensively chasing down a score of 119 inside 16 overs. It was a spectacular bowling performance led by Ashish Nehra, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja to restrict Pakistan to just 118 runs in the match played at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
