The Pangeo conference was held over three days, each targeting a different region. Friday was Asia Pacific’s turn, with the day’s sessions hosted by Charles Ferguson, APAC general manager, Globalization Partners.
Globalization Partners provides a global AI-driven, compliant, employment platform that is committed to helping its customers succeed fast and powered by in-house worldwide human relations experts. Its platform allows companies to hire anyone, anywhere, with a high degree of ease and compliance.
Ferguson quoted Winston Churchill, saying "never waste a good crisis," and spoke about the opportunities for companies to re-invent their business-as-usual, re-evaluate required skillsets, and review previous talent opportunity experiences in this new age of remote working and disruption caused by the pandemic.
This set the theme of the conference how to take charge of the things we can't control and turn the craziness around hiring, working, lockdowns, travel and other barriers, and instead result in accelerated mobility in a practical way.
The conference brought together high-quality expert speakers to deliver direct insights and pearls of wisdom, helping conference attendees figure out strategies to turn the pandemic’s disruption around and result instead in a huge upside for their company.
Speakers included Dr Parag Khanna, managing partner at FutureMap, author, TED speaker, and strategic advisor to governments and multinational companies. Dr Khanna spoke on the “new war for global talent.”

Other sessions focused on future-proofing your business by scaling and hiring globally and compliantly; how to attract and retain employees; effective and efficient internal expansion; and key trends shaping the future of work in 2022 and beyond around remote, hybrid, and office-based work.
Another conference theme was hiring to scale and leverage global talent to fill the gaps in your own marketplace.
Importantly, throughout the sessions on how to practically navigate compliant recruitment across numerous regional boundaries, payroll, and recruiting and retaining talent in the “new normal,” a key theme that continued to emerge is the importance of company culture and its importance across the business, not only from Human Resources leaders.
In fact, Ferguson explained in this new era there is a need to ensure your vision, values, and goals for your company are rewritten in the current reality. “Don’t rely on those you listed when IPOing or going to the market,” he said. “Ensure you, and your remote employees, are successful through clear career plans, emphasising the culture and aspects that will help you thrive.”
The conference key sponsors were ADP, IRIS, Ceridian, PayGroup, Sequoia, activpayroll, BDO, and TriNet.
