24 hours water cut in Mumbai on October 26-27

There will be a 15% water cut in all of the city and surburbs for 24 hours on October 26-27 (10am-10am) owing to repair works proposed to be undertaken by the BMC at its water pumping station in Bhandup Complex and Pise Panjrapur Complex. Full story here

Fire breaks out in Pune's furniture godown; none hurt

A fire broke out in a furniture godown on Monday night, but no casualty was reported, fire brigade officials said. The incident took place in the Gangadham area of suburban Kondhwa. According to the fire brigade, no one was hurt and flames were doused. "The fire department received a call about a fire in a furniture godown at around 8.45 pm. Upon receiving the call, a total of 14 water tankers were dispatched to the spot and the fire was brought under control," said an official. The cause of the blaze was not yet known, he added. (PTI)

At 889, Maharashtra logs lowest cases since May 5, 2020

Mumbai Fire Brigade to get 24 new 'fire bikes'

The Mumbai Fire Brigade will soon get bikes to fight fires in slums and congested localities. The fire brigade will buy 24 fire bikes for firefighting. Mumbai local: 100% Mumbai suburban services from October 28

For the first time since March 22, 2020 railways have decided to operate 100 percent services on suburban section of both, Central Railway (CR) and Western Railway (WR), from October 28. Presently, CR and WR are running 1702 and 1304 suburban services on Mumbai division of CR and WR respectively, which is 95.70 per cent of its total suburban services. CR's chief public relations officer Shivaji Sutar said, "From October 28, CR and WR will run 1774 and 1367 services, respectively." Full story here

Land deal-money laundering case: Eknath Khadse gets interim bail till Friday

NCP leader Eknath Khadse on Monday appeared before a special court here and was granted interim bail till October 29 in connection with a 2016 Pune land deal and money laundering case. Khadse appeared before the court pursuant to summons issued by it earlier this month after taking cognizance of the charge sheet filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the case. Khadse's lawyers filed a bail application and also sought interim bail pending its hearing. The court granted him interim bail and posted the matter for further hearing on October 29. Besides Khadse, his wife Mandakini and their son-in-law Girish Chaudhary are also named as accused in the case. Chaudhary is presently in judicial custody. (PTI)

Covid-19: Kalyan-Dombivli reports 29 new cases, one death

The twin cities of Kalyan and Dombivli in Maharashtra's Thane district reported 29 new Covid-19 cases on Monday. According to the latest data by Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC), most of the cases came up in Dombivli east (11), followed by nine in Kalyan west, six in Kalyan east and three in Dombivli west.
