Heirok sit-in protests bomb attack

Thoubal, October 23 2021: Condemning the bomb attack at the Ukhongsang Mayai Leikai residence of Ningthoujam Diten,.

who is preparing to contest the upcoming state assembly election from Heirok AC as NPP candidate, on Friday evening, a sit-in protest was staged at the playground of Ukhongsang Mayai Leikai on Saturday.

Speaking on the sidelines of the sit-in, NPP candidate, N Diten condemned the attack and clarified that he has had no dispute or issue with anyone till date.

He recalled that the attack occurred while he was attending a labour card distribution function in Salungpham.

Stating that he has been working hard to encourage peaceful politics in the constituency, Diten urged all concerned not to repeat such acts in crowded areas.

Any issue can be resolved through peaceful talks, he said, while urging for maintaining tranquility in the constituency.

During the sit-in, the protestors held placards inscribed with slogans, "Denizens of Heirok stand alongside N Diten", "Violent actors are cowards", "Heirok denizens stand for peaceful elections", "No place for violence in democracy", "Vote, cannot be won with threats", "Diten is for the people of Heirok", "Are people meant to be served or to be killed?", "We want peace, vote for Diten", "Bombs cannot suppress the truth", "Arrests the culprits immediately", "We condemn bomb attacks in residential areas", etc.
