The Delhi Jal Board (DJB) has ordered officers concerned to hire water tankers fitted with GPS devices, following complaints of “water theft”. There were also complaints that some of the tankers never reached their destination points, officials said. (PTI)

A tempo driver was killed, while three others, including a minor boy, were severely injured after a speeding SUV hit their vehicle in southeast Delhi's Kalkaji, police said on Monday. The tempo driver identified as Radhey Shyam received serious head injuries and was shifted to trauma centre where he was declared brought dead, they said. (PTI)

Over 1,000 cases of dengue have been reported in the national capital this year, with more than 280 fresh cases logged in the last one week, according to a civic report released on Monday. Of the total count of dengue cases recorded in Delhi this season, 665 have been recorded this month till October 23. (PTI)

The Delhi high court on Monday issued notice to the Delhi Nursing Council (DNC) and government on a petition seeking voting rights for all nurses registered with the DNC for electing their office bearers and executive committee. The Bench of Justice DN Patel and Justice Jyoti Singh sought responses from all the respondents and slated the matter for December 13, 2021, for further hearing. (ANI)

The customs department at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi arrested a man for trying to smuggle out gemstones, said a customs official on Monday. "One Indian national passenger arrived at T-3, IGI airport on October 21 from Moscow by an Air India flight. He was intercepted by the customs officers after he had crossed the green channel and approached towards the exit gate of the international arrivals hall of T-3," said the official. (ANI)

Delhi chief minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo Arvind Kejriwal, who is in Uttar Pradesh where assembly polls are due early next year, will be performing aarti at Saryu Ghat in Ayodhya on Monday evening, informed party leader Sanjay Singh. He further said that Kejriwal will offer prayers at the birthplace of Lord Ram in Ayodhya on Tuesday.

Two tourists from West Bengal, who were returning after a visit to the Taj Mahal in Agra, were killed when a car rammed into a stationary tempo traveller on the Yamuna Expressway in Greater Noida, officials said on Monday. Around half a dozen people, including three foreign nationals, also suffered injuries in the crash that took place on Sunday morning, the police officials said. (PTI)

The work, while slow due to initial resistance and confusion, has begun on installation of rainwater harvesting systems in highrise housing societies. Delhi Jal Board has made it mandatory for existing and new buildings measuring 100 sq metres and above to install such systems. The RWAs had all along argued that it was not technically feasible to create water harvesting pits in already built-up areas on their complexes for fear of weakening the foundations. They also scorned the state government’s Rs 50,000 incentive as being too little for something that could cost many lakhs of rupees.
