Man arrested at Delhi airport for smuggling gemstones worth Rs 44 lakh

The customs department at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi arrested a man for trying to smuggle out gemstones, said a customs official on Monday. "One Indian national passenger arrived at T-3, IGI airport on October 21 from Moscow by an Air India flight. He was intercepted by the customs officers after he had crossed the green channel and approached towards the exit gate of the international arrivals hall of T-3," said the official. (ANI)

Two tourists returning from Taj Mahal visit killed in road crash on Yamuna Expressway

Two tourists from West Bengal, who were returning after a visit to the Taj Mahal in Agra, were killed when a car rammed into a stationary tempo traveller on the Yamuna Expressway in Greater Noida, officials said on Monday. Delhi: Highrises Get Going On Rainwater Harvesting, Residents Still Skeptical

The work, while slow due to initial resistance and confusion, has begun on installation of rainwater harvesting systems in highrise housing societies. Delhi Jal Board has made it mandatory for existing and new buildings measuring 100 sq metres and above to install such systems. The RWAs had all along argued that it was not technically feasible to create water harvesting pits in already built-up areas on their complexes for fear of weakening the foundations. They also scorned the state government’s Rs 50,000 incentive as being too little for something that could cost many lakhs of rupees.
