38-year-old woman killed in road accident

A 38-year-old woman died in a road accident after a bus rammed into the motorcycle on which she was riding pillion on Chandigarh Road yesterday.

The deceased has been identified as Urmila.

Complainant Ravinder Singh told the police that his wife was working in a factory and on Friday she along with the contractor of the factory was going to work.

The moment their motorcycle reached Chandigarh Road, a speeding bus came and rammed into the motorcycle. The contractor fell on the side of the road, while Urmila suffered serious head injuries and died on the spot.

After the accident, people got hold of the bus driver and handed him over to the police.

Investigation officer ASI Paramjit Singh said after registering a case against the bus driver, identified as Jasvir Singh of Katahri village in Ludhiana district, he was arrested.
