Jamie Lynn Spears Says Her Parents Wanted Her to Have an Abortion at Age 16

Jamie Lynn Spears is releasing her memoir soon and in the book she is opening up about being pregnant at age 16.

The 30-year-old entertainer and younger sister of Britney Spears says that her parents wanted her to get an abortion after she told them she was expecting.

Jamie Lynn says that her dad Jamie and mom Lynne “came to my room trying to convince me that having a baby at this point in my life was a terrible idea,” according to book excerpts obtained by TMZ.

She added, “‘It will kill your career. You are just too young. You don’t know what you’re doing. There are pills you can take. We can help you take care of this problem … I know a doctor’… everyone around me just wanted to make this ‘issue’ disappear…everyone was certain that termination would be the best course of action.”

Jamie Lynn says her dad was “slinging words and tossing insults” when she decided to keep the baby. He suggested she give up the child for adoption.

Also, Jamie Lynn is claiming that her parents wouldn’t let her tell her sister Britney about the pregnancy.

“I needed her more than ever and she wasn’t able to help me in my most vulnerable time … To this day, the hurt of not being able to tell my sister myself still lingers,” she said.

A mental illness charity recently turned down Jamie Lynn‘s donation of proceeds from the book.
