Shah Rukh Khan-Kajol’s Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge to be adapted as Broadway musical

Bade bade deshon mein aisi choti choti baatein hoti rheti hai, Senorita!! And now the bada desh America is going to witness the magic of Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol’s blockbuster hit, Dilwale Le Dulhania Le Jayenge. Yes, you heard it right.

Filmmaker Aditya Chopra is all set to make his Broadway debut with its musical version of the film. It has been titled Come Fall In Love- The DDLJ Musical. The musical will premiere in September 2022 at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego.

The news was shared by the official handle of Yash Raj Films. The production shared the poster of the musical on Instagram and wrote that a stellar creative team of Indian and US-based artists are coming together with Come Fall In Love- The DDLJ Musical. It will open in 2022 and be produced by YRF.

About Come Fall In Love- The DDLJ Musical

Originally helmed by Yash Chopra, the musical will be penned by Laurence Oliver Award winner Nell Benjamin and Indian music composers Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravjiani. It will be choreographed by Emmy and Tony Award winner Rob Ashford who had worked with films like Frozen, The Boys from Syracuse, and Thoroughly Modern Millie.

The design team will be managed by Emmy and Tony Award winner Derek McLane and music supervision will be done by Bill Sherman. A global casting will also begin shortly for the musical.

On October 20, Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge completed 26 years of its release. This love saga of Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol has captivated fans through generations. On the 26th anniversary of the film, Kajol shared an emotional post on her Instagram handle. Sharing the iconic climax scene from the film, she wrote that Simran caught the train 26 years back and we are still thanking everyone for all this love.
