Troubles don't seem to end for Facebook anytime soon. A new whistleblower has dug up some more dirt on Facebook. The former member of Facebook's integrity team turned whistleblower has accused Facebook of hosting hate speech and illegal activity. He had said that the company puts profits before the efforts to curb hate speech. The new set of allegations arrive days after Frances Haugen, another former Facebook employee, accused the company of harming young users through Instagram.

The new whistleblower, who was part of Facebook's integrity team, had spoken to the Washington Post about her allegations. He had reportedly filed a complaint to the Securities and Exchange Commission. In the complaint, the whistleblower had alleged that Facebook feared the then President Donald Trump and therefore refused to enforce safety rules. The report reveals that Facebook repeatedly undermined efforts to curb hate speech, misinformation out of fear of angering Trump and his political allies. Facebook also feared that messing with the President would also hamper its growth.

One of the Facebook officials Tucker Bounds was also quoted in the affidavit. He had reportedly said, "It will be a flash in the pan. Some legislators will get pissy. And then in a few weeks they will move onto something else. Meanwhile, we are printing money in the basement, and we are fine."

The accusations made by the new whistleblower echo the allegations made by Frances Huagen, who had also said that Facebook chooses money over the safety of its users. Following too many accusations and PR crisis that these claims have caused, Facebook is now planning to change its name.

As per reports, Facebook is planning to change its name to something that will show the company's commitment towards building a sort of metaverse of services. Simply put, Facebook does not want to be known as just a social media company anymore and the identity change might be its best bet.
