The Deep East Texas Council of Governments will be accepting pre-applications for its rental assistance waiting list lottery. This lottery determines the individuals and families that can receive rental assistance with Section 8 housing.
Beginning at 8 a.m. Nov. 1 and going until 11:59 p.m. Dec. 31, DETCOG’s Regional Housing Authority will be accepting online pre-applications for housing assistance at waitlistcheck.com/tx2875.
The housing authority will not accept any applications at the office or applications that are faxed or mailed in. This is an online-only application process.
DETCOG will accept 1,500 pre-applications, and applicants can check their place on the waiting list beginning Feb. 14 by going to waitlistcheck.com. The following items are preferences to DETCOG:
Families who live and work within the DETCOG Regional Housing Authority service area which includes the following counties: Angelina, Hardin, Houston, Jasper, Newton, Polk, Sabine, San Augustine, San Jacinto, Shellby, Trinity and Tyler coounties. Houston County does not include Houston or any part of Harris County. Tyler County does not include Tyler or any part of Smith County;
