Newcastle travel to Crystal Palace on Saturday for their first test of the post-Steve Bruce era.
Bruce was handed his marching orders on Wednesday just days after he oversaw his 1000th game as a manager in the 3-2 defeat to Tottenham.
His dismissal, which took place a week after a £305million takeover at the club, comes with Newcastle just one point above bottom and without a win this season.
