Gurgaon: With this year’s monsoon at bay, the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) is gearing up to carry out repair work on key roads across the city, with those among the first in the list include key stretches of newly developed sectors.
According to officials, among the roads that have been listed for repair are the master roads of sectors 81 to 95, on which annual maintenance work will be carried out in the coming weeks. The work, officials said, will involve patchwork along the stretches in the area that are not scheduled for special repair. While special repair is meant for the stretches that are in bad condition and need strengthening, annual repair is meant for stretches that can manage for another year with patchwork.
The work planned for the master roads of sectors 81 to 95 is expected to cost Rs 2.71 crore. At present, the GMDA has invited online bids for the project and is looking for contractors who can repair the stretch and also maintain it for a period of 12 months.
“Patchwork will be undertaken along the master roads in the area that are not part of any special repair or strengthening,” said Major Shaveta Sharma, Executive Engineer, Infrastructure I division of GMDA. Additionally, the Authority has floated a tender seeking online bids for special repair of the master road that divides sector 112 and sector 114. The stretch, officials said, has not been repaired in three years and has been further damaged this monsoon.
“The special repair will take care of the top layer, and all the undulations. In addition, the gradient will be rectified, and the surface drains will be considered, where they are required covers will be put for the surface drains, desilting will be done. The special repair will also include pruning of trees and taking care of road safety aspects, including in terms of signages and markings,” said the Executive Engineer
The 1,440-metre-long road, officials said, will be repaired at a cost of Rs 7.82 crore, with the work expected to take six months to complete. The contractor hired for the purpose will also be expected to maintain the stretch for a period of three years, said officials.
Apart from these, the GMDA has, in the last one month, already floated tenders for the repair of other key roads in the newly developed sectors, including the master road connecting sector 99 to sector 115, the master roads of sector 62/65, 58/61, 59/60, as well as the outer road of sector 114.
