A Beaumont woman has been indicted following a fatal hit-and-run that killed a senior citizen in April.

A Jefferson County grand jury on Wednesday indicted 29-year-old Shelby Mone Douglas, of Beaumont, for “accident involving injury or death.”

According to court documents, Beaumont Police received a call shortly after 5:30 a.m. on April 25 for a welfare check around South Major Drive and Frazer Drive in Beaumont.

The officer found 70-year-old Russell Guillory, of Cheek, dead in the street from a possible hit-and-run. An officer saw a vehicle that matched a description given by a dispatcher eastbound in the 5000 Block of College Street.

The officer pulled over the gray Chevy Tahoe and arrested Douglas.

“Douglas stated she was involved in an accident in which the passenger side of her vehicle struck a man who was walking in the middle of the roadway on South Major Drive,” the affidavit said. “Douglas advised she then continued driving until she was later stopped by police.”

Douglas was taken to the Baptist Hospital for medical clearance and then the Jefferson County jail.
