Active Covid Caseload in UP drops below 100: Logs just 3 cases in day

Lucknow, Oct 22 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh on Friday witnessed the sharpest decline in the number of active Covid-19 cases as the tally fell below the 100-mark for the first time since the second wave surge of cases.
The active caseload in the most populous state now stands at 85 which has been brought down by over a remarkable 99 percent from its peak capped at 3,10,783 cases on April 30.
Out of the 85 active covid patients, as many as 72 are in home isolation, officials here on Friday said.
On the contrary, sparsely populated states like Kerala, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal and Tamil Nadu account for a heavy Active Caseload of nearly 81,000, 24,000, 5,500, 7,500 and 13,000, respectively.
UP’s Covid-19 control mechanism that includes aggressive testing and screening as per the target of 'Trace, Test & Treat', prevention through vaccination, coupled with partial corona curfews to control the spread, has resulted in the test positivity rate - which shows the levels of infection among the people - declining to even lower than 0.01 percent in the state.
The TPR has also been reduced from a high of 16 percent in April. Whereas states like Kerala still have a positivity rate of 10.3 percent.
In a giant leap towards eliminating coronavirus, the state on Friday recorded another decline in the number of fresh cases as the state limited the infections to three, making it the lowest single-day tally.
The most populous state, in sharp contrast to major other states such as Kerala, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu has been successfully taming the raging disease. Where the other states have been witnessing a greater surge of fresh Covid-19 infections (daily cases ranging from 15,000-2,000), Uttar Pradesh has restricted the daily-case count below 50 for nearly 72 days in a row.

The Covid control mechanism in UP gets a further boost as 44 districts have become free of Coronavirus with active as well as fresh Covid-19 cases declining to zero.
The drop in fresh and active cases in Aligarh, Amroha, Auraiya, Badaun, Baghpat, Ballia, Balrampur, Barabanki, Basti, Bahraich, Bijnor, Chitrakoot, Deoria, Etah, Etawah, Farrukhabad, Fatehpur, Firozabad, Gonda, Hamirpur, Hardoi, Hathras, Jhansi, Kanpur Dehat, Kanpur Nagar, Kasganj, Kaushambi, Kushinagar, Lakhimpur-Kheri, Lalitpur, Maharajganj, Mahoba, Mainpuri, Mirzapur, Moradabad, Pratapgarh, Rae Bareilly, Rampur, Sant Kabir Nagar, Shamli, Shravasti, Sitapur, Sonbhadra and Unnnao indicates complete elimination of coronavirus from over 58 percent of the state.
In what comes as a big relief, none of the 75 districts in Uttar Pradesh has reported fresh cases of coronavirus infection in double-digits lately. Indicating signs that the dangerous virus is receding from the state, as many as 72 districts reported no case of covid-19 infection in the last 24 hours.
