Thane: Cops rescue toddler from kidnapper

THANE: A 25-year-old female auto rickshaw driver has been arrested allegedly for abducting a three-year-old toddler from Kharegaon who was rescued later by the city police within 12 hours.
The accused was identified as Nurjahan Shaikh, a resident of Baneli village in Titwala. The police said that the toddler was playing near his building in Kharegaon area on Wednesday afternoon when he drifted away from his parents. It was then the woman kidnapped him and took him to Titwala.
The parents launched a frantic search and then approached the local police station. The cops formed several teams, used CCTV footage to locate and nab Shaikh. “The woman planned to use the child for begging,” said an police officer.
