Hyderabad: The water board here will establish a task force that will address sewerage issues in suburban municipalities in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) over the next three months. Dana Kishore, managing director of HMWSSB, said on Friday that the department had identified 792 hotspots, areas where sewage regularly overflows. survey with CGMs, GMs, DGMs and drivers at the Water Board’s headquarters in Khairatabad.
In a meeting with all officials of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board (HMWSSB), Dana Kishore said that separate reports should be drawn up for each hotspot for the permanent solution to the sewage problem in Hyderabad. He said steps would be taken in the next three months to address as many of these issues as possible.
Dana Kishore has also instructed HMWSSB officials to prepare proposals for the construction of new pipelines, according to a press release from his office. The managing director also told officials that 95% of the complaints the department receives need to be resolved. Since October 1, the water board has taken over the sewerage responsibilities of suburban municipalities under the GHMC area, and nearly 85 percent of the complaints have been resolved immediately, the release added.
The managing director of the HMWSSB also urged officials to resolve 95 per cent of the complaints within the next month, adding that 91 additional workers and 75 hydraulic sludge clearance vehicles will be deployed to tackle various problems quickly. The meeting was attended by HMWSSB revenue director FSA Praveen Kumar and others.
