Hanagal, Oct 22 (UNI) Reacting to Congress' allegations charging the ruling BJP of distributing Rs 2,000 per vote in the Karnataka bypolls, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Friday dismissed the narrative saying "it is the standard template dialogue of the Congress party whenever they are in opposition".
"I have already said this. The Congress has experience in these activities. We have seen them do it during bypolls to Kundgol, Gundlupet and Nanjangud, previously. Whenever the Congress is in the opposition, it is their standard standard template dialogue," he told reporters at Hanagal.
On Thursday, Congress leader Siddaramaiah accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of distributing the cash per vote ahead of Sindagi and Hanagal bypolls.
Siddaramaiah said that other than indulging in corruption, the BJP has nothing to talk about when it comes to their achievements. The party mismanaged the Covid-19 pandemic, did not distribute compensation to the dead, and indulged in corruption in Corona-related purchases.
KPCC president DK Shivakumar also alleged that Rs 2,000 per vote was being distributed by the BJP. "This shows that the BJP is not confident of winning the Sindagi and Hanagal bye-elections, therefore their ministers are carrying bagful of money to distribute to the voters," he said addressing the election campaign in Hanagal.
The voting for both the seats will take place on October 30 and counting of votes will take place on November 2.
The bye-elections have been necessitated as the seats fell vacant following the death of Sindagi JD(S) legislator MC Managuli and BJP's CM Udasi from Hangal.
