'I didn’t know what to do with myself': Countdown star Rachel Riley recalls the horrific moment she was groped backstage at work by a male fan

Rachel Riley has told how she was once groped backstage at the Countdown studios by a male fan.

The maths whizz, 35, who is currently pregnant with her second child, admitted that she 'didn't know what to do with myself' at the time as she recalled the shocking moment.

Speaking to The Sun, Rachel noted that the man and his wife were banned from the show after she reported him for grapping her bottom behind the scenes of the Channel 4 programme.

She told the publication: 'This married couple came up to me and the lady said ‘oh my husband really likes watching you, do you mind if we just…’ and he squeezed my arse.

'I didn’t know what to do with myself. I was a bit shocked and stood back and they didn’t get invited back to the audience.'

The TV personality hinted that this wasn't an isolated incident as she added: 'You get the odd arse grabber.'

Elsewhere, Rachel recently told how she had to change up her look on the show after Channel 4 bosses tried to make her dress like her own mother.

Speaking on TV show Complaints Welcome, she explained: 'I had to buy some new clothes at one stage.

'I just didn’t know what to wear and they were trying to dress me more like my mother at that stage, everything had to be below the knee.'

Earlier this month, pregnant Rachel celebrated her final day of filming for Countdown as she headed off on maternity leave. 

The star took to Instagram to share the news with fans saying she has 'officially finished filming to pop a baby out!' as she prepares to welcome her second child with husband Pasha Kovalev.

The television star shared a slew of silly snaps with the show's new presenter Anne-Marie Imafidon who will 'be keeping the numbers in line' until Rachel returns next year.

Rachel also revealed we will continue to see her on our TV screens until December as some shows have been pre-recorded. 

Rachel captioned the post: 'Well that's it from me, I've officially finished filming to pop a baby out!' 

'You're stuck with me on screen till December when the totally amazing @notyouraverageami will be keeping the numbers in line till I'm back next year! 

'Hope you have loads of fun Anne-Marie, best of luck lovely!' 

Anne-Marie previously took over Rachel's role as the 'Arithmetician' on Countdown for Black to Front day in September.
