Chris Eubank Jr has shown his charitable side by offering to match the price a microwave signed by him is sold for on eBay.
As of Friday, the leading bid for the kitchen appliance stands at £66,000.
Ahead of his comprehensive knockout win against Wanik Awdijan in Newcastle, the middleweight was bizarrely asked to sign the microwave by a fan outside his hotel.
At the time, he told talkSPORT it left him with so many questions and no doubt the number of fans clamouring for the unique memorabilia has left him even more puzzled.
However, Eubank Jr said the money he donates will go to a charity the winning bidder selects.
The 32-year-old shared the listing on Twitter, writing: “Been sent a link to an eBay auction that’s selling the microwave I signed in Newcastle.
“No idea how much it’ll go for but to make this a more meaningful situation whatever the winning bid is I’ll match it and give the money to a charity of the winners choice.”
With the microwave now going for nearly £70k, Eubank later hilariously joked on Twitter: “Well that escalated quickly.”
After his easy victory on Tyneside, Eubank Jr made reference to the microwave and joked he’s ready to sign more.
He said: “I love Newcastle, it’s always a pleasure to come up here. If any of you guys have got a microwave you want me to sign I’ll be outside with my pen ready!”
George Foreman has got his lean, grilling machine, so is this Eubank Jr preparing to put his name to his own brand of microwaves?
However, as for matters in the ring, Eubank Jr is already targeting his next fight. “Anybody with a world title, anything the fans want to see me fight…
“A guy that keeps popping up is Liam Williams, everyone seems to want that fight for me so that’s an option.
“You’ve got that rat Saunders running around, he wants to fight me for five mil [£5million].
“The options are endless. All I know, from December, big names, it’s gonna be a hell of a 12 months.”
