Bride Poses With Her Dog for 'First Look' Wedding Photos: 'A Moment With My Special Boy'

A bride-to-be found a unique way to include her dog in her wedding day and, from the looks of it, other fellow canine lovers could soon be following her lead.

The soon-to-be-wed woman shared a series of pictures to Instagram under the handle mycaninelife showcasing her "first look" photos from the big day.

To the uninitiated, a "first look" photo refers to an image capturing the emotional first moment a couple sees each other on their wedding day.

However, in this instance, that first look moment went a little differently, with the bride-to-be choosing to share the exchange with her dog rather than the groom.

The result was a series of sweet—if slightly unconventional—snaps of the bride, who is called Hana, being seen for the first time by her lovable golden retriever, Gumbo, who attended the wedding dressed in a mock tuxedo.

Writing alongside the post, Hana explained that pretty much the "only request" she had for the whole day was "a moment with my special boy."

Though her actions defied convention, they struck a chord with fellow dog lovers who all appeared keen on the idea of sharing such a special moment with a canine companion.

At the time of writing, the post chronicling the wedding snaps had been liked over 18,700 times.

"This is so perfect!" Kelly_Bove declared. "I love everything about this," another user, posting as freyandherdane wrote.

"If this isn't ultimate goals, I don't know what is," champaagnepupi added. "What a great idea!" 2huskateers commented. "I'm crying," toast.mocha.offical said.

Sharonandteddytakethecity, meanwhile, branded it "The best thing I've seen today."

A relatively modern phenomenon, wedding photographer Ashley Sawtelle highlighted the potential benefits of first look photoshoots during an interview with Brides in which she drew on her personal rather than professional experience.

"Personally, I loved having a first look at my own wedding," she said. "It gave us a moment before the day officially started to connect with one another and take a deep breath."

While first look photos involving dogs are unusual, Perri Farlow of Farlow Photography thinks having pets at a wedding can actually be a major plus.

"I love when couples incorporate their pets into portrait sessions and weddings," she told Bored Pandas. "Pets bring out such honest, authentic emotion from their owners, making it so easy to capture the genuine joy they feel when they're with their beloved pets."

Hana has more reason than most for including her dogs too, having made a name for herself alongside Gumbo, 6, and her other two dogs Aslan, 7, who is a labrador retriever and Maple, 3, who is a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever.

Describing herself as "a girl and her retrievers exploring together," the account currently boasts 125,000 followers.

Newsweek has contacted Hana for comment.

It's not the first time Newsweek has reported on a dog who ended up getting involved in wedding proceedings, though this story ended a lot happier.

In one previous instance, a dog that was due to attend a wedding as a bridesmaid was unfortunately forced to drop out after being bitten by a venomous snake. Fortunately the much-loved canine went on to make a complete recovery following the ordeal.

Our natural affinity with dogs great and small was further showcased in an adorable viral video clip of a newborn baby enjoying a nap cuddled up next to his owner's puppy.
