New Delhi: Sixty-one per cent of Indians expressed their willingness to take the third dose of the Covid vaccine if it becomes available in the future, a new survey has revealed.
The survey, conducted by community social media platform LocalCircles, comes on a day India rossed the 100 crore vaccine doses mark. Of these, 70 crore are the first doses while 30 crore are the second doses.
“This means that over the next few months another 17 crore adults will hopefully take their first dose, albeit it may require some sensitisation and awareness creation by the government,” the survey said.
61% say will definitely take 3rd dose
The survey collected responses from 9,245 Indians, of which 43 per cent were from tier 1 cities, 29 per cent from tier 2 cities, and 28 per cent were from tier 3, 4 and rural districts. 68 per cent respondents were men while 32 per cent were women.
On being asked whether they will take the third dose of the vaccine if it’s made available in the next six months, 61 per cent of the respondents said “yes, most definitely”, 27 per cent said “yes, but only if COVID is or likely to become prevalent when the 3rd dose becomes available”, six per cent said “no, will not be taking it”, and another six per cent did not have an opinion.
The survey also stated that while many believe that the risk of Covid is still there, it is likely that the cases will rise again in the next few months.
“People also believe that all activities of the economy being unlocked and schools working with full attendance are likely to lead rise in COVID cases and hence the 3rd dose once it becomes available will help them in staying protected from COVID,” the survey said.
