Just call it…LaMelo Yellow.

Last night, Charlotte Hornets point guard LaMelo Ball arrived to the first game of his second NBA season looking like a fresh-from-the-tube Wilson tennis ball, wearing a custom neon-yellow suit topped with a matching trench coat by his very own LaFrancé fashion-lifestyle brand. The topper: it was all the same hue as his Lamborghini Urus. (Lest we forget, he also owns a sherbet-orange Lambo. Guy’s got a type!) Ball—who put up 31 points, 9 rebounds, and 7 assists to lead the Hornets over the Indiana Pacers—gave a better look at the fit for the postgame conference, complete with a cool-$1 million Richard Mille timepiece. You could call it the sartorial epitome of “Sheeeeeeeeeeeesh!”

As of now, LaFrancé—which Ball launched last November—only offers socks, tees, and hoodies, but last night’s getup may indicate that some higher-end suiting may be on the horizon. The reigning Rookie of the Year’s look also tells us something else: if, at the beginning of 2021, players erred on the side of subdued, LaMelo’s neon yellow is proof that NBA style is back in full-swing.
