Lady teacher murder: Kegoan IIC suspended, one more arrested, forwarded to court

Bhubaneswar, Oct 21 (UNI) Kalahandi SP Sarvana Vivek on Thursday suspended Ke gaon police station Inspector in Charge Damu Parija on the charges of dereliction of duty in refusing the FIR
on the abduction of lady teacher Mamita Meher who was later murdered and her body was burnt
and buried inside Mahalinga stadium in Kalahandi district on October 8 last .
The action against the IIC came as he refused to receive the FIR of the parents of Sunshine
English medium school teacher Mamita Meher who was abducted and murdered on October 8
last.The parents had approached the IIC on October 12 last to accept the FIR on the missing
of their daughter.
The IIC is the fourth police personnel to be suspended in the sensational murder of the school teacher.
Earlier,three security guards of Titlagarh police barrack were placed under suspension by the
authority on negligence of duty when prime accused Gobind Sahu in the murder of Mamita Meher,managed escape from the police custody on October 17 last.
Sources said the parents of the lady teacher first went to Ke goan police station to lodge FIR
on the missing of their daughter but the IIC did not accept the FIR at the behest of Gobind sahu,
the president of the managing committee of the Sunshine English medium school.
The parents finally lodged the FIR at Sindhekela police station.
The Bolangir police managed to arrest absconded Gobind Sahu on October 19 who was hiding
in a sugarcane field near his sister’s village at Budhipadar village under Bongomunda block of
Bolangir district.
During interrogation, Gobind has confessed to the police killing Mamita Meher by strangulating
her as he apprehended that the lady teacher will expose his extra marital affairs.
The Bolangir police also today arrested one Radhe, a close associate of Gobind Sahu and
forwarded him to the court.
The police have taken Gobind Sahu on five days remand for further interrogation and find out
the involvement of any other people in the murder of the lady teacher.
Meanwhile, Bharatiya Bikash Parishad (BBP), a social organization, has moved the Odisha
High court seeking a CBI probe into the murder of Mamita Meher and a compensation of
Rs.50lakh to the next kin of the deceased.
The BBP has made both the Centre and the State governments, Odisha Home Secretary,
DGP, the SPs of Balangir and Kalahandi ,IIC Ke Goan and Sindhekela police station as
parties in the matter.
