HYDERABAD: Appreciating the efforts of the government and its official machinery in controlling Covid-19 in the state, the Telangana high court on Wednesday permitted the government to reopen the residential schools (gurukuls) run by the welfare department. A bench of Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice A Rajasheker Reddy heard advocate general BS Prasad and removed the barrier imposed by the high court earlier on the reopening of the residential schools. The AG brought to the notice of the court the decision of the high court that allowed the state to reopen all schools and to permit them to function in online and offline mode that is convenient for them. The earlier order had a rider that did not permit the residential schools to be reopened. Stating that all precautions were taken to safely run the residential schools, the AG appealed to the bench to permit them to reopen them as any delay would deprive the children of these schools both quality education and nutritious food.
