Arsenal have been handed a boost as Bukayo Saka has been cleared to play in Friday’s clash with Aston Villa.
The 20-year-old had to be taken off at half-time in their 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace on Monday.
James McArthur recklessly kicked Saka on the back of his leg, but was not sent off.
Referee Mike Dean deemed it was only worthy of a yellow card and VAR did not overturn the decision.
Gunners manager Mikel Arteta was furious with the decision and it was feared at first that he might miss a significant amount of time.
“If we want to detect things that are really relevant in a game and can change a football match, then they have to be looked at,” the Spaniard said.
“That situation is not only affecting them but we have to take the player off because of the action so it is affecting it two different ways. It is not right.
“You (need to) make a straight decision, when it is so clear and so obvious straight away and they have to play with 10 men.
“Bukayo could not continue, we had to take him off at half-time, I saw the action and I can’t believe how the player continued on the pitch.
“I don’t get it. With what we were explained at the start of the season and what happened tonight, it doesn’t make any sense.”
But The Sun report that Saka has been cleared to return to training and will be available for the clash against Aston Villa.
A win for Arsenal is vital as they currently sit 11th in the Premier League table.
Even three points would only be enough to take them to ninth due to their poor goal difference, highlighting their woes this campaign.
Meanwhile, a loss could see them end up in 14th by the end of the weekend.
