Odisha BJP delegation meet OHRC, demands CBI probe, dismissal of minister of state for home in Mamita Meher murder case

Bhubaneswar, Oct 21 (UNI) BJP State General Secretary Lekhashri Samanta Singhar on Thursday demanded immediate arrest of Minister of state for Home Dibya Shankar Mishra for his involvement
in the murder of Sunshine English Medium school teacher Mamita Meher.
Ms Singhar at a press conference here demanded that Mr Mishra must be dropped from the
Council of Ministers and the inquiry of the case be handed over to the CBI.
She asked why Police is not bringing Mr. Mishra under the purview of investigation even after his close proximity with the Prime accused Govind Sahu was revealed.
Ms Singhar feared that the ruling BJD would destroy the evidence and deprive the family members
of Mamita of getting justice if the inquiry was not handed over to the CBI.
She said BJP is committed to give justice to Mamita’s family and would intensify its agitation if the government did not take stern action against the guilty.
Ms Singhar alleged that the Police is not acting in an impartial manner whenever any allegations
are made against ruling party MLAs, Ministers or party leaders.
The BJP leader alleged that the Police helped Ministers like Arun Sahu in Pari murder case.
Mr Pratap Jena in Mahanga double murder case and Mr Bikram Keshari Arukh in the murder of
ACF Soumyaranjan Mohapatra to escape.
She said people have lost confidence on the Odisha Police and asked how the Police could
conduct an impartial inquiry in the Mamita murder case.
Meanwhile, a delegation of the BJP today urged the OHRC to direct the government to dismiss Minister of state for Home Dibya Shankar Mishra from the Council of Ministers and handed over
the Mamita Murder case probe to CBI.
A five member delegation of the state Mahila Congress led by its state Unit President Bandita
Parida today visited Mahaling and Jharani, the native village of Mamita and interacted with the
family members of the deceased school teacher. .
Ms Parida demanded capital punishment for Gobind Sahu, the President of Sunshne English
medium school for abducting and strangulating Mamita to death and trying to destroy the
evidence by burning the body and burying under a pit inside a stadium.
She alleged that the Minister was involved in the incident, otherwise Gobind Sahu would not
have mustered the courage to commit such a heinous crime.
