Mumbai on Wednesday recorded 463 new Covid-19 cases, taking an active caseload in the city to 4,550. The total number of Covid-19 cases in the metropolis is 7,51,957 while the death toll due to the viral disease stands at 16,192. At present, 41 buildings have been sealed in the BMC limits due to the presence of Covid-19 positive persons in them. After a gap of four days, the metropolis again reported more than 400 cases on Wednesday. Also, 558 patients were discharged on Wednesday, taking the total number of recoveries to 7,28,696. Ananya Panday's mobile, laptop seized by NCB
Actor Ananya Panday appeared before the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Thursday after the central agency allegedly came across WhatsApp chats during its investigation against Aryan Khan. Ananya's father Chunky Panday accompanied her to the NCB office located at Ballard Estate in south Mumbai, where they reached around 4 pm. The NCB's Mumbai zonal Ananya's name cropped up in the case after certain WhatsApp chats between her and Aryan Khan were allegedly found in the latter's mobile phone, the sources said, adding that earlier in the day, the NCB officials had seized her mobile and laptop. Man held for killing father over property feud
Police have arrested a 35-year-old man for allegedly killing his father over a property dispute here in Maharashtra, an official said on Thursday. The accused, Ravi Mangal Shelke, allegedly stabbed to death his father, Mangal Hari Shelke (50), on October 12 in Navle village of Thane and then absconded, Murbad police station's senior inspector Prasad Pandhare said.

Mumbai: Transport chief warns against overcharging during Diwali festival
State transport commissioner Avinash Dhakne on Wednesday issued a circular warning private bus operators not to “overcharge” passengers during Diwali festival. The circular mentioned that as per government notification, private buses can charge a maximum 50% over MSRTC (state bus) fares. Commuters who come across private buses charging more than 1.5 times the MSRTC rate should register complaints, said a senior RTO official, who is part of the drive which will begin from Thursday.

Maharashtra govt seeks to redevelop slums on Juhu airport
The state government wants to redevelop the slums on Juhu airport. “We want to propose to the union aviation minister that in return for giving us 50% of the airport land which is not required for aeronautical operations, we will give the Airports Authority of India (AAI) the other 50% of the land free of slums,” said housing minister Jitendra Awhad on Wednesday.The proposal comes even as the state government in 2018 cancelled the reservation for an affordable housing scheme and restored the reservation for airport in the city’s Development Plan 2034.
