Petrol and diesel prices remain at record high and continue to be hiked on October 21, 2021. Fuel rates vary across states owing to the variation in implication of local taxes. Petrol rates have been increased by 35 paise in the city of Delhi.

State-run oil marketing companies including BPCL, HPCL and IOC began revising fuel rates on a daily basis on September 24 after international crude rates hit close to a 3-year high. International crude rates
The surge in domestic fuel price to record high comes on the back of international crude rates which are at their 7-month high levels. There is energy crisis being experienced globally, brent crude last closed at $85.8 per barrel, while WTI as on October 20, 2021 have been at $83.46 per barrel.
