State logs three deaths, 71 new cases

Imphal, October 20 2021: The state on Wednesday reported three new fatalities along with 71 new positive cases of Covid-19 out of 2081 samples tested, registering a positivity rate of 3.41 per cent against Tuesday's 3.82 per cent.
Out of the 16 districts, 10 reported Covid cases on Wednesday with Imphal West recording highest count at 26.In terms of positivity rate, Ukhrul district recorded highest single day positivity rate at 9.8 per cent after confirming 12 new cases out of 122 samples tested while Thoubal district recorded lowest positivity rate at 0.6 per cent.
Chandel, Jiribam, Noney, Pherzawl, Tamenglong and Tengnoupal districts did not report any new positive cases on Tuesday.
The active caseload rose to 1360 on Wednesday out of which 161 (11.84 per cent) are in home isolation, 550 (40.44 per cent) in CHICs, 358 (26.32 per cent) in CCCs and 291 (21.40 per cent) in hospitals.
Among the hospitalised patients, 79 are admitted to ICU/HDU wards, 50 are on oxygen support and 20 on ventilator support.
However, there is no report on number of patients on oxygen and ventilator support from JNIMS even though it has 137 patients.
On the other hand, there are four patients on oxygen support in different CCCs.
As of Wednesday evening, 596 beds including 107 ICU/HDU beds are available in different hospitals.
There is no updated information regarding bed availability in other facilities but as of Tuesday evening, 2828 beds were available in different Covid Care Centres and 416 beds (28 ICU/HDU) in district hospitals and CHCs.
So far, the state has recorded 93,570 positive cases and 1530 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.
The current month has recorded 2386 new cases and 49 fatalities out of which 607 new cases and 15 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.
According to official reports, the 71 new positive cases included 67 civilians (31 male & 36 female) and 4 personnel of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) whose samples were detected at RIMS (9), JNIMS (6) and other testing centres (36).The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (12), Imphal West (26), Thoubal (1), Bishnupur (5), Kakching (3), Ukhrul (12), Churachandpur (4), Senapati (2), Kamjong (1) and Kangpokpi (1) .
All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
All the three fatalities reported in the last 24 hours were from Imphal East district and two of them had first dose of Covid vaccine.
The three deaths took the cumulative number of deaths due to Covid in the state to 1904.In the last 24 hours, 66 patients were discharged from home isolation (17), RIMS (2), JNIMS (6), CCCs (40) and CHICs (1) .
The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,22,970 (general population - 1,18,647 and CAPF personnel - 4,323) .
Number of recovered cases is 1,19,706 (general population - 1,15,416 and CAPF personnel - 4,290) and number of active cases is 1,360 (general population - 1,332 and CAPF personnel - 28) .
The recovery rate is 97.35 per cent.
On Tuesday, 605 D-type and 125 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.
Only 6592 vaccine doses were administered on Tuesday and it took the cumulative number of vaccinated people to 12,38,100 which included 6,10,583 fully vaccinated individuals.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (42,740), Imphal East (27,188), Thoubal (9423), Churachandpur (10,112), Kangpokpi (2774), Tamenglong (3272), Bishnupur (9130), Senapati (2221), Ukhrul (2899), Kakching (6379), Chandel (2314), Noney (1067), Tengnoupal (1053), Jiribam (1021), Kamjong (913) and Pherzawl (464).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (633), Imphal East (452), Thoubal (173), Churachandpur (160), Kangpokpi (60), Tamenglong (13), Bishnupur (189), Senapati (10), Ukhrul 39}, Kakching (111), Chandel (35), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (5) and Pherzawl (0) .
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 39,629 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 24,415 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 4,34,296 tests per million population against the national average of 4,25,320 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.55 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, only 2081 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 3.41 per cent per cent while the cumulative positivity came down to 9.12 per cent.
