FBI Confirms Brian Laundrie's Remains Were Found, Ending the Search for Gabby Petito's Fiance

It has been confirmed that the human remains found in a Florida park are those of Brian Laundrie, the fiance of the late Gabby Petito.
Gabby and Brian set out on a cross-country road trip back in June and he returned home to Florida in August without her. Her remains were discovered a month later in Wyoming’s Bridger-Teton National Forest and it was determined that she died from strangulation.
Laundrie has been missing since mid-September and now that hunt for him is over after his remains were discovered.

Human remains were found in Florida’s Carlton Reserve on Wednesday (October 20), more than a month after the search for Laundrie began. Dental records confirmed that the remains belong to him.
NBC News reports that a spokesperson for the North Port Police says the remains were “skeletal.” The FBI said that the “remains were found alongside personal items, such as a backpack and a notebook, belonging to Laundrie.”
“These items were found in an area that up until recently had been under water,” the FBI’s Michael McPherson said.
The Carlton Reserve is said to be a “short drive” from the Laundrie family home.
