Imphal, October 20 2021: Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee general secretary (organisation) L Tilotama has advised the public to stay away from BJP's propaganda stating that the ruling party is misleading the public with false propaganda as the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election approaches.
Addressing a press meet at Congress Bhawan here on Wednesday, Tilotama said that it is unfortunate for BJP state president A Sharda to come down to the level of accusing MPCC president MLA N Loken of suffering from mental disorder.
Such statement shows the nature of BJP which would stoop to any level to criticise their rival in an attempt to win the election, she said and added that BJP state president A Sharda is now beginning to demonstrate typical nature of BJP as the election approaches.
She also defended MPCC president N Loken's statement made in a function held at Konthoujam while maintaining that the Congress president showed maturity and responsibility of a leader of an opposition party.
She then accused the BJP government of not taking up any welfare initiatives for women, children, youth and labourers.
Though the government claimed of taking up Start-Up scheme, the state has seen nothing significant under the scheme.
Congress president simply pointed out the flaws in the scheme, which was implemented without any vision.
She said that the youth are facing various issues that could possibly affect their mental health.
It was unfortunate for the BJP to misconstrue the statement to take political advantage, she said.
Several Congress leaders like Mani Shankar Aiyer, Ghulam Navi Azad and PK Hendique have raised issues concerning the state in the parliament.
Unfortunately, BJP is trying to mislead the public by projecting union home minister Amit Shah as the only politician who brings up issues related with Manipur.
However, the public know it all and they will never fall to BJP's trap, she said.
Except for construction of Barak Bridge, the BJP government has not done anything in the state.
Though the BJP government promised good NH-37 where aeroplanes could be landed, the condition of the highway is in very bad shape today.
The previous Congress government had submitted DPR for National Sports University and the project simply started execution when BJP came into power, Tilotama added.
