High Court’s bouquet and brickbat to TN

Chennai: The Madras High Court has appreciated the Tamilnadu government for having decided to cause least inconvenience to the people when Chief Minister M K Stalin’s convoy passes through public roads.

Justice N Anand Venkatesh expressed his appreciation after being informed that the Chief Minister himself had asked the police not cause hardship to anyone.

Meanwhile, ‘God save the (police) department,’ the Madras High Court said on Wednesday while dismissing as withdrawn a plea moved by Superintendent of police D Kannan seeking to discharge him from a case filed by a woman IPS officer alleging sexual harassment charges against special DGP Rajesh Das.

The court whether a police officer would commit a murder if his senior instructs to do so/ God alone can save the police department, Justice P Velmurugan exclaimed when the criminal revision petition from Kannan, suspended SP of Chengalpet district, seeking to discharge him from a sexual harassment case, came up for hearing.

While hearing alleged sexual harassment complaint against the Special DGP rank officer, the Madras High Court raised serious questions about the Tamilnadu Police department.
