Police Commemoration Day: MoS Home Nityanand Rai says India will never compromise of its sovereignty, security and those who create threat will be given befitting reply

Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai has said that India will never compromise of its sovereignty and security and those who create threat will be given befitting reply. Mr Rai said this while addressing the Police Commemoration Day Parade at National Police Memorial in New Delhi. He said, government is committed to equip the Central Police Forces with modern gadgets and weapons so as to tackle emerging challenges.
Mr Rai also paid tribute to police personnel, who lost their lives in the line of duty. He said, so far 35 thousand 780 police personnel have laid down their lives in the service of the nation.
The Minister said, 377 personnel of State Police Forces as well as those of Central Armed Police Forces, gave supreme sacrifice in the line of duty during the last one year. He said, more than three lakh 50 thousand police personnel were infected by COVID-19 so far and two thousand 458 policemen have died due to COVID.
The Minister said, several programmes will be organised in the coming days as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav at National Police Memorial in New Delhi. He said, in the next nine days, the programme will be organized which will showcase the lives of those police personnel who sacrificed their life for the nation.
