The much-awaited festival for married women, Karwa Chauth, is just two days away. The auspicious festival falls during the Krishna Paksha Chaturthi in the month of Kartik and this year, the day will be celebrated on October 21.
On the occasion of Karwa Chauth, married women take on a nirjala fast for the longevity and prosperity of their husbands. The women eat a meal before dawn which is called sargi and then do not consume anything after seeing the moon at night. The sargi thali includes food that provides energy for a long day fast.
