Live news updates: At least 46 people have died and 11 are missing in heavy rains this week that have caused “massive damage”, said the state government on Wednesday as two districts stay cut off from the plains for the second day.

Ranikhet has reserved fuel for emergency services. Almora recorded seven deaths on Tuesday, news agency ANI reported. 

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami Wednesday visited Kumaon, one of the worst-hit regions in the state. He told reporters there was “massive damage” across the state, and it would take time to return to normalcy, the Indian Express reported.

Amarinder Singh, whom his Congress party forced to resign as Punjab’s Chief Minister, said that he will launch his own political party and may ally with the BJP if the farmers’ protest is resolved.

Hindustan Unilever, India’s largest consumer goods company, posted a 9 per cent year-on-year (YoY) rise in net profit at Rs 2,187 crore for the July-September quarter. 

Reliance Retail Ventures Ltd (RRVL) has acquired a 52 per cent stake in veteran couturier Ritu Kumar's firm Ritika Pvt Ltd for an undisclosed amount.
