Deontay Wilder’s trainer Malik Scott gives exact reason for Bronze Bomber’s KO loss to Tyson Fury – but says it is NOT an excuse

Deontay Wilder tried to beat Tyson Fury three times and he was unsuccessful on three occasions.

However, according to his trainer, Malik Scott, Wilder didn’t win the trilogy fight because he didn’t learn any lessons from the previous two encounters. He also doesn’t agree with some opinions that Wilder gassed out or was poorly conditioned for the third fight.

“He didn’t say anyone cheated, and he didn’t say ‘He caught me off guard,’” said trainer Scott to Blue Blood Sports TV on Wilder’s loss to Fury.

On the contrary; Scott says Wilder was simply debilitated by a shot to his ear in the third round which caused the first knockdown.

“He said, ‘No, no, no.’ In boxing, people get hit in the ear. This is heavyweight top-quality boxing at the highest level. It’s not an excuse. He got hit in the ear, which is fair play to Fury.

“Fury is fighting, and he’s trying to get him out of there like we were trying to do him.

“Those narratives that come out about Deontay are so unfair. ‘Ah, that’s another excuse.’ He didn’t say nobody did nothing wrong. He just said that ‘after I got hit with a good shot, my equilibrium was off, which is factual.”

Of course, the reason for the discourse around Wilder and excuses stems from his actions coming out of the second fight between the pair.

Then, he accused his former trainer, Mark Brland, of spiking his water and being a traitor for throwing in the towel, he accused Fury of sneaking metal into his gloves and that the referee was drunk among other wild claims.

In fact, Scott landed his job as a result of those claims in many ways.

“The first knockdown wasn’t like how the other ones were,” Scott added.

“It was like; he must have gotten hit with something because he looked wobbly.

“It was like, he got hit with a good shot, and it knocked his equilibrium off, which is good, but that’s not an excuse.

“Stop trying to attack Deontay. Cut that s*** out. The man just gave you a hard guts gory passion. Please give him a break for the first month. Back off with that s***.

“We’re about to be back in the camp in a few months. Y’all can come back and attack us then. Stop doing that, man.

“His equilibrium was off from Tyson hitting him with a very good shot, and he got up,” said Scott.
