Together with its much anticipated and fabled Pixel 6 series, Google also took the wraps off its 2^nd-gen Pixel Stand, a wireless charging stand, though it didn't unveil the latter on the stage.

The latest wireless charging stand has a new design and new capabilities as well. The 2^nd-gen Pixel Stand has a thicker profile than the flatter oval-shaped design featured on the first-gen model. It looks stronger now, providing better support to the docked device. The new wireless charging stand by Google is made of TPU and Polycarbonate materials.

Compared to the first-gen 10W Pixel Stand that was announced back in 2018, the 2^nd-gen Pixel Stand offers 23W wireless charging. Google touts the new wireless charging stand that has been optimized for the new Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro phones. Precisely, the stand offers 21W fast-charging to Pixel 6 and 25W to Pixel 6 Pro. While the second-gen Pixel Stand model brings faster speeds, it is not the fastest in the market.

The new 2nd-gen Pixel Stand might not be the fastest but it is the smartest, thanks to some new achievements it has managed to unlock.

The new Pixel Stand features an active cooling fan that keeps the device cool while in use. So, you don’t have to worry about your phone getting heated up while watching videos. There are also different charging modes that work automatically or can be switched manually to adjust the charging speed and fan noise, even though Google is marketing it as “cool and quiet”

The new Pixel Stand works with compatible Pixel phones, Pixel Buds, and Qi-certified devices (supports up to 15W for Qi-certified devices).

The Pixel Stand 2nd-gen continues to support the docked Pixel experience where it turns the Pixel phone into a smart display and allows you to command Google Assistant some regular tasks. The docked device can also be turned into a Photo Frame and display for simply easy-to-access home controls.

The 2nd-gen Pixel Stand comes in a White color option only and is priced at $79 in the US. There are no details on its availability. The Google Store still mentions “Coming soon.” Google is shipping a 30W USB-C charger and a 1.5m USB-C cable with the Pixel Stand (2nd generation).
