    Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 1.15%

    Synopsis

    The Nifty Auto index closed 1.15 per cent down at 11493.3.

    Nifty moved in a tight range of 82 points, and ended slightly below the psychologically crucial level of 15,700.
    NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a negative note on Wednesday.

    Shares of Tata Motors(up 1.04 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

    On the other hand, Balkrishna Industries(down 3.76 per cent), Ashok Leyland(down 2.18 per cent), Bharat Forge(down 2.16 per cent), Hero MotoCorp(down 2.09 per cent) and Mahindra & Mahindra(down 1.98 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

    The Nifty Auto index closed 1.15 per cent down at 11493.3.

    Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 152.15 points at 18266.6, while the BSE Sensex stood down 456.09 points at 61259.96.

    Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 11 ended in the green, while 39 closed in the red.

    Shares of Vodafone Idea, Tata Power, PNB, YES Bank and BHEL were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

    Shares of Arihant Found, Transport Corp, Ugro Capital, Paras Defence and Space Technologies Ltd. and Mukta Arts hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Destiny Logistics & Infra Ltd., Marine Electricals, Quadpro ITeS Ltd., Strides Shasun and Aditya Birla Sun Life AMC Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week lows.
