Punjab: Congress demands probe by state agencies in Singhu murder case

LUDHIANA: Congress has upped its ante over BJP after photograph of Union agriculture minister and other party leaders went viral on social media in which they are seen with Aman Singh, leader of a Nihang group, whose members are accused of murdering a dalit man at Singhu Border.
Accusing BJP of indulging into conspiracy to end farmers agitation, city’s prominent congress leader Parminder Mehta has now demanded that chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi should initiate a high level probe in this matter.
Speaking on the issue, Mehta said, "The surfacing of photographs of Union agriculture minister and other BJP leaders with the Nihang Group leader Aman Singh raises several question marks on the heinous incident of murder of dalit youth at Singhu Border. In another schoker, notorious person Gurmeet Singh Pinki is also seen in the pictures. These photographs leave no doubt that there is a very big conspiracy behind the barbaric murder of a poor man at Singhu Border and this might be a part of a devious gameplan to end the peaceful farmers agitation. Moreover it is very surprising that after committing the murder the Nihang groups are threatening the farmers and have also given a call for gathering Nihang Mahapanchayat".
Mehta also added, "These kind of dirty tricks can cast huge danger over the peace and harmony of Punjab for which score of Congress leaders and their families sacrificed their lives. Since we know that Haryana Police which is probing the incident of murder is also a puppet in hands of BJP, the only way truth behind these photographs and the murder case can come out if the Punjab government forms a special investigation team and conducts a high level enquiry into the entre case".
