Yechury attacks Centre over fuel price hike

New Delhi, Oct 20 (UNI) Communist Party of India (Marxist) general secretary Sitaram Yechury on Wednesday attacked the Centre over the continuous rise in fuel prices and asked the government to withdraw 'excise duties' on petroleum products.

"Modi's assault on people's lives is relentless. Daily hikes in the prices of petrol and diesel continue to destroy our economy and people's livelihoods.Withdraw central excise duties on petroleum products," he tweeted.

In Delhi, the petrol and diesel prices were increased by 35 paise each on Wednesday.

Post the hike, petrol in the national capital cost Rs 106.19 per litre while diesel was priced at Rs 94.92 per litre.
