The NCB has opposed the bail plea of Aryan Khan and the other accused since the start and said he had been consuming drugs for a few years now and was in touch with some persons who appear to be a part of an international drug network for procurement of drugs.
Since Aryan Khan is the son of Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan, the case involving drug bust on a cruise ship has drawn a lot of attention. Many celebrities have termed this a ‘witch-hunt’ and ‘harassment’ and stood by the Khan family while others are following the case developments closely as speculations on when Aryan will get bail mount.
After his bail has been rejected by the special NDPS court on Wednesday, Aryan will have to spend another night in custody. His lawyers have moved Bombay High Court seeking bail but the matter will only come up for hearing on Thursday.
Since Aryan Khan is undertrial, he is kept separately from the other inmates at Arthur Road Jail and is allowed to wear normal clothes and not the jail uniform meant for prisoners.
There has been absolutely no physical contact between Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan and their son Aryan since Oct 2. After Aryan was taken to Arthur Road Jail, he has not been able to meet them due to jail policies and Covid protocols. Aryan was allowed a 10-minute video call with the family in the presence of jail authorities.
Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan have been eagerly awaiting the return of their son after he was detained by the NCB on Oct 2. Both parents have been keeping away from media and have still not visited Aryan in custody. The only source of contact between Aryan and his family is video calling, that was organised earlier last week. The video call happened in the presence of jail authorities. It lasted for 10 minutes.
Reportedly, WhatsApp conversations are the key focus in the drugs case involving Aryan Khan. The NCB has presented chats of the accused that establish conspiracy and illicit drug consumption.
In the latest developments, lawyers representing Aryan Khan have moved to Bombay High Court seeking bail for the 23-year-old. However, since the day’s end is drawing to a close, the matter will only come up for hearing on Thursday, meaning a day more in jail for the accused.
The NCB and team of counsels are relying on WhatsApp conversations of the accused to establish connection with an ongoing drugs case. NCB said earlier in the day that it has submitted WhatsApp chats of Aryan Khan in the court. Reportedly, Police has found drug-related WhatsApp chats that are allegedly between Aryan and a debut actress.
Since the matter involving a drug bust on a Goa-bound cruise ship had become high-profile due to involvement and detainment of Aryan Khan, son of Shah Rukh Khan, the courtroom was packed on Wednesday as Aryan’s bail came up for hearing.

After speculations that the 23-year-old son of Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan will be going home on Wednesday after being granted bail in a drug bust case, the young man will have to spend some more time in Arthur Road Jail after his bail has been rejected by the special court today noon.
Aryan Khan, Arbaaz Merchant and Munmun Dhamecha, along with five others were detained on October 2, and placed under arrest on October 3 after the NCB raided on the ship preparing to sail for a Mumbai-Goa cruise. Their case was later transferred to the Special NDPS Court. The lawyers of the accused moved the Special Court for bail which was rejected after several days of hearing in which the NDPS’ counsel Additional Solicitor-General Anil Singh vehemently opposed bail for the accused. Among other things, the NDPS accused Aryan of being a regular consumer of drugs, dealing in narcotics with international links, etc, which was opposed by his teams of lawyers, and the other co-accused.
After a special NDPS court rejected the bail plea of Aryan Khan in s drug bust case on Wednesday noon, his lawyers have said they will now move to Bombay High Court for his bail. This move will happen either today in the evening or tomorrow.
The courts will go on vacation in the first week of November with Diwali on November 4. If Aryan Khan doesn’t get bail before the first week of November, his jail stay will be prolonged further. Aryan Khan and other accused in the Mumbai cruise drugs case have already spend 18 days in Arthur Road Jail after being arrested on October 3.
A total of 20 persons, including a foreigner, have been arrested in the sensational cruise ship raid till now. One of the detained is Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan, 23, who has been in jail since Oct 3.
A special NDPS Court on Wednesday rejected the bail plea of Aryan Khan — the son of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan — and two others, in the rave party raid case aboard a cruise ship on October 2. The court also declined the bail applications of Arbaaz Merchant and Munmun Dhamecha, the two accused in the drug case lodged by Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). Aryan’s lawyer said that though the detailed order of Special Judge VV Patil is awaited, “they plan to appeal to the Bombay High Court today or tomorrow seeking bail”.
Self-proclaimed critic Kamaal R Khan has sharply reacted to the bail rejection of Shah Rukh Khan’s son, Aryan Khan. He tweeted, “Aryan khan’s bail rejected and it is clear harassment. How can a person remain in jail for more than 20 days, who was not in possession of drugs neither consumed? While Bharti Singh was given bail on the same day, who was having 86 gm of drugs. Means 2 laws for 2 different people.” (sic)

Aryan Khan’s lawyer Amit Desai was flooded with questions from media as he stepped outside the court premises after the 23-year-old star kid was denied bail in connection with a drug bust case. When asked if he would now plan to move the Bombay high court, Desai said, “I don’t have the order. We will decide once we read the order.”
Anupam Kher and Kirron Kher’s son Sikander said that the law should be allowed to take its own course. “All I can say is that when it comes to anything that involves the law, let it take its own course,” he said during a media interaction. “How can I just go around and say ‘he is guilty, she is guilty?’ Do you even have any idea how you can destroy someone’s life with your loose mouth talking about, him or anybody else? I think it’s very important as a human being to first know facts, you can’t loosely talk about anyone.”
Meanwhile, the mood at Mannat is gloomy ever since Aryan has been detained by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). Earlier, it was reported that Gauri had kept a ‘mannat’ during the auspicious occasion of Navaratri and was constantly praying for her son’s return. Gauri has also strictly instructed the staff at Mannat to not cook anything sweet in the kitchen till Aryan is released. News18 has learnt that the shooting of Pathan, starring Shah Rukh and Deepika Padukone, in three international locations has been put off to another time due to Shah Rukh being occupied with his son’s detainment. Now, seems like the wait for their son’s return home will be a bit longer.
In custody, Aryan also reportedly underwent a ‘counselling session’ in the jail with the NCB teams recently. The unverifiable reports, attributed to unidentified NCB sources, claimed that Aryan was purportedly ‘full of guilt and remorse’ over his recent actions leading to his arrest and custody for the past 18 days. Aryan has been allotted the Qaidi (prisoner) number 956.
A money order amounting to Rs 4,500 dated Oct 11, was received by Arthur Road Jail authorities from Aryan’s family. This money order was for his canteen expenses. The agency has arrested more than 20 persons in connection with the case.
