Imphal, October 19 2021: Pradhan of Maibam Leikai GP Ngangom Kunjarani and Member of ward number 10 Naorem Manglembi were assaulted by an unknown man.

The statement was made at a press conference held yesterday at the residence of Ngangom Kunjarani at Kakwa Maibam Leikai.

According to Ng Kunjarani, the unfortunate incident occurred on October 17 around 2:30 pm at Liwa Pukhri Achouba Mapan.

Further elaborating on the turn of events, Ng Kunjarani and N Manglembi stated that they were in the area to supervise a MGNREGA work program when an unknown man approached them and questioned why his locality/leirak was not included in the MGNREGA work program.

The unknown man then proceeded to attacked the two women indiscriminately.

Ng Kunjarani and N Manglembi strongly condemned the incident and clarified that Ihey have no hand in deciding which areas get picked for the MGNREGA work program.

That decision is up to the Gram Sabha, they added.

They further made an appeal to the authorities concerned to identify and punish the perpetrator who assaulted them.
